BIOGRAPHY
Alison Pack Bova
Alison Bova is Professor Emerita at Radford University, Radford, Virginia where she was the head of jewelry and metalsmithing from 2003-2022. She holds an MFA in metalsmithing from East Tennessee State University and a BS in art education with teaching certification from Appalachian State University. For nearly a decade, she served as teaching faculty in jewelry for the Virginia Residential Governor’s School for the Visual and Performing Arts. Other teaching experience includes workshops at Pullen Arts Center, Pocosin Arts, East Carolina University, the Yuma Arts Symposium, and the John C. Campbell Folk School.
She is a 2016 Niche award winner in the holloware/cast category, and her small scale sculptural and jewelry work has been widely exhibited nationally and internationally. Recent exhibitions include the 37th annual Materials Hard & Soft 2024, Paper Alchemy: The Traveling Thurmanite Exhibition, the 36th annual Materials Hard & Soft 2023, Alchemy 6: Transformation in Contemporary Enamels and Handcrafted 2022: Ceramics, Fiber, Glass, Metal, Wood.
Her work has been published and featured in Humor in Craft, Cast, Art Jewelry Today 3, Art Jewelry Today 2, Metalsmith, and most recently The Art of Fine Enameling. In 2021 she was invited to present a “Tuesday Team Talk” for the Enamellist Society and has presented lectures at the Texas Metals Symposium, ECU Material Topics Symposium, Taubman Museum, and Appalachian Center for Craft.
